REDUCING ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUG (AOD) RELAPSE DUE TO SEXUAL BEHAVIOR A curriculum authored by Douglas Braun-Harvey, MFT, CGP and funded by a three year grant provided by The California Endowment. This one of a kind program is a harm reduction model developed to reduce the risk of alcohol and drug relapse resulting from sexual behavior. Expected Program Outcomes:
Most recovery programs fail to address sexual behavior as it relates to chemical sobriety. In order to prevent relapses, it is essential that chemical dependency treatment providers offer positive, affirming and factual information about human sexuality. This can be achieved by integrating a sexual behavior relapse preventation and intervention curriculum within a "sex-positive" substance abuse treatment program. Stepping Stone of San Diego, California, a non-profit alcohol and drug recovery agency, will be the first institution in the country to implement the sexual behavior relapse prevention program.
